2. General Search Tips
  • System Requirements: Firefox 1.5 and above, Seamonkey 1.x and above, Internet Explorer 6.x and above, or Safari 3.x and above; Java Script, and cookies enabled.

  • Searches are not case-sensitive.

  • This version of the directory search tool interface is only in English, however, the partner information may be listed its local language. To view certain content you must enable your computer to do so.

  • Keyword field - may enter partial word using wild card character ' * ' before and/or after text.

    - For a partner, type in a application area, an industry or location.

    - Use generic terms or phrases such as Solaris, storage, JAVA API if you don't know the product name.

  • For location criteria enter a valid location and mile/km radius. Note: Search results will locate any partner headquarter or sales office within the specified radius.

  • Use the Search button criteria to initiate the search. It will apply all criteria filters to the database to display only partner matching all criteria.

  • Reset all criteria by clicking on Update All link.

3. Case Sensitivity
  • For Keyword search, queries in all lower or UPPER case are case-insensitive and will yield all variations of the case structure of the word.

  • For Keyword search, use the operator; e.g., <CASE> java to yield a case-sensitive search on java, returning documents containing only java and no other case variants.

4. Special Characters
Keyword search field - special characters you can use to refine your search include:
  • * (asterisk): Wildcard symbol. Searches for any letters before or after the "*". For example, searching for "comp*" would return results like "computer" and "company".

  • " " (quotation marks): Enclosing two or more terms in quotation marks treats those terms as one phrase. To find documents with several phrases use commas to separate phrases.

5. Getting Better Search Results
  • Choose appropriate number of search results per page for easier viewing.

  • Use the page numbers to approximately locate a partner by company name within your result set.

  • Use quotation marks for exact searches.


6. FAQs
  • Are all Sun Partners listed in the Directory?

    • No. Only Sun Partner Advantaged partners who are 1) at the Associate level or higher, 2) who are in good standing in the Sun Partner Advantage Program, and 3) who have elected to have their profile displayed in the Directory.
  • My company listing in the Directory needs updating. How do I update it?

    • Go to the link found on the Sun Partner Directory home page, click the link in the welcome section labeled Update the Partner profile.
  • I know there is a reseller near me but when I search by zip code it doesn't show up on results.

    • The location search applies to all addresses the partner has entered into their profile. They may need to update their profile. You can request a partner update their profile by clicking the Contact Me link on their profile page. Check the box on the Contact web form.
  • Who do I contact for help with the Sun Partner Directory or make suggestions for improving it?
