Eligibility

 
 
1. Q.  How do I know if I'm eligible for the Development Hardware Offering?
 
  A.  Please see the complete eligibility requirements for Development Hardware document. Specifically, Solution Providers (such as Consultants, Trainers and Web Designers) are NOT eligible to participate.
 
2. Q.  As a Sun Reseller am I eligible to purchase Development Hardware?
 
  A.  If a Sun Reseller meets the requirements of the Development Hardware offering, they are eligible to apply. Equipment purchased through this offering is to be used for development purposes only.
 
3. Q.  I am a Sun Partner residing outside the United States. Can I purchase Development Hardware products and have them shipped to me?
 
  A.  Yes, if your company qualifies and the offering is available in your country. Review the Development Hardware offering's eligibility requirements and contact your local Sun Partner Advantage Program Contact Center to check on country availability.

4. Q.  How and where do I apply?
 
  A.  To apply for the Development Hardware Offering, you must be an approved participant in the Sun Partner Advantage Program. Apply for the Program.

 
5. Q.  How long does it take to receive approval to participate in the Hardware Offering?
 
  A.  Approval takes a maximum of 10 business days for new applicants.
 
6. Q.  How do I find out if I am accepted into the Program?
 
  A.  Sun's Partner Contact Center will notify you via email. The notification will contain your hardware agreement number.

7. Q.  Is software included when I buy hardware?
 
  A.  If you purchase Developer Systems (excluding storage systems), you receive a Development Software Enterprise Edition kit . This includes many of Sun's most popular tools, technologies, and software previews. Note: Software is not pre-loaded and is unsupported.
 
8. Q.  What is the difference between Developer Systems and Hardware Discounts?
 
  A.  Developer systems are pre-determined systems and options specifically for the Development Hardware offering that provide the greatest savings. Hardware Discounts offer discounts across all products on Sun's pricelist categories A, B, E, H, and P. Category discounts vary by country. While Hardware Discounts do not offer quite the savings as the Developer Systems, it does provide the greatest flexibility in purchasing for your developmental needs.
 
9. Q.  Are the systems pre-configured?
 
  A.  If you purchase Developer Systems (excluding storage systems), you receive a one-year Development Software Enterprise Edition subscription. This includes many of Suns most popular tools, technologies, and software previews. Note: Software is not preloaded.

Pricing, Ordering and Restrictions

 
 
10. Q.  Where do I find equipment pricing?
 
  A.  Specific system pricing, discounts and purchase limits are accessible from the Membership Center for partners who are approved to participate in the Development Hardware Offering. Access the Membership Center, Login information will be provided with your acceptance notification (via email).
 
11. Q.  Whom do I contact to place an order?
 
  A.  In the US and Canada, Sun Partners have the option to buy directly from Sun or from an authorized Reseller Partner. Outside the U.S. and Canada, commercial developers can only purchase from an authorized Reseller Partner. For further information visit the Membership Center. Equipment must be purchased within the country it is being used. We do not allow purchases to be made within one country and then shipped to another.
 
12. Q.  If I am in the U.S and Canada, can I change my purchasing method?
 
  A.  Yes. Partners may choose to purchase indirect or direct. Purchasing methods can only be changed once per year.
 
13. Q.  How long will it take to receive the products I have ordered?
 
  A.  Lead times for delivery vary depending on product.
 
14. Q.  Are refunds or exchanges available?
 
  A.  No. This program offers highly discounted equipment and does not allow for exchanges or refunds.
 
15. Q.  How do I find out what my spending limit it?
 
  A.  Spending limits may vary due to other contractual agreements with Sun and local regulations. Please contact the Partner Contact Center nearest you for more information.
 
16. Q.  Is there a maximum or minimum purchase quantity or amount?
 
  A.  Yes. The offering has annual maximum dollar limits, limits vary by country. There are no minimum purchase requirements
 
17. Q.  When does the term for the annual purchase limit begin and end?
 
  A.  These limits are reset upon approval of your annual review.

18. Q.  What warranty support is included?
 
  A.  Standard Warranty Support options apply to all Hardware sold within this program. Please check the Sun Product Warranty Overview. In addition to the standard warranty, Sun Partners who purchase through the Developer Systems option are eligible to purchase specially discounted SunSpectrum Support warranty upgrades. For products purchased under the Hardware Components option, SunSpectrum Silver support warranty upgrades are available at standard pricing.
 
19. Q.  What kind of developer software support is included?
 
  A.  Software support is not included as part of this program. However, eligible partners are entitled to specially discounted technical support under Sun Spectrum Support offerings.
