Sun Announces release 7 of Sun Java Communications Suite
With the proliferation of network-aware devices, communication needs are changing as are the ways people interact with each other. What's New in Communications Suite 7
- Calendar Server 7
A standards (CalDAV) compliant calendaring solution which provides interoperability with other calendaring clients like Mac's iCal and Mozilla's Thunderbird/Lightning, and offers native calendar synchronization with mobile devices that support CalDAV, e.g. the iPhone.
- Indexing and Search Service
a new component that provides real-time indexing and search capabilities for messaging content, including attachments. A wide variety of data types are supported, including OpenOffice, Microsoft Office, PDF, and image formats. Users can now search message bodies, including attachments and get results back instantly.
- Messaging Server v. 7.3
A highly scalable, secure and high-performance messaging platform
- Support for RedHat 5, expanding deployment platform options.
- Integration with the new Indexing and Search Service, providing high-performance searching of email messages including attachment data.
- Instant Messaging v. 8 a scalable
Standards compliant instant messaging & presence platform that supports instant messaging in mobile devices and interoperability with other instant messaging networks, namely Yahoo, AOL, MSN.
- Update 1.3 of Sun Convergence
a rich Web Client for the Java Communications Suite email, calendaring, contacts, instant messaging, and other Web services. This update of Convergence enables fast searches of email attachments using the new Indexing and Search service, provides access to external POP email and supports Internet Explorer 8.
