By itself, the term Grid is a broadly used term in the computing industry. Grid Computing is increasingly common mainstream technology that helps organization anticipate and respond to technical and competitive pressures, providing the considerable computational power that organizations need to support their business or research.
In order for Sun ISV partners to take advantage of various grid-related technologies and business models, Sun has developed the extensive Sun Grid Readiness Initiative,consisting of three inter-related tracks that help deliver the ISV to three distinctly different destinations.

- Grid Computing - Designed for the ISV who is interested in helping its customers utilize the ISV's grid-enabled application in their in-house grid environments to run compute intensive workloads.

Destination: ISV applications join the ecosystem for Sun's HPC solution stack and get published in the online Sun Partner Directory and other sun.com properties to increase visibility to Sun customers and partners.
- Service Management - Designed for the ISV focused on delivering its application for improved software automation, high availability and provisioning of applications to traditional enterprise IT data centers.
- Destination: ISV applications join the ecosystem for Sun's N1 software products and get published in the online Sun Partner Directory and other sun.com properties to increase visibility to Sun customers and partners.

Utility Computing* - NEW! Designed for ISVs who wish to leverage Network.com, Sun's on-demand compute infrastructure, to their existing and new customers. ISVs can create an on-demand software option for HPC or compute-intensive applications for free!
- Destination: ISV applications published at network.com and displayed in the application catalog to licensed customers to select and run. Can open up new markets to the ISV.
What the Sun Grid Readiness Initiative Provides
The Sun Grid Readiness Initiative provides access to a wide array of resources for developing and marketing innovative applications for Grid technology. It includes Grid developer toolkits, downloads of Sun evaluation software, training, white papers, documentation, access to Grid experts at Sun and, through Sun's HPC Solution Center, evaluation of pay-per-use models. And, ISVs can leverage Sun's well-known, innovative brand through several standard or custom co-marketing and lead generation activities made available to Sun Grid Readiness Initiative participants.

Eligibility Requirements
